i've xprotolab portable, hw 1.6 (it says so next to the oled display on board) and sw 2.14.
if i connect it to my mac, i can see this;

if i connect it to my win, windows doesn't detect anything.
do i need pdi programmer to upgprade or is there any other way?

Are you entering bootloader mode? (pressing the leftmost button while you plug the USB cable). When the Xprotolab is in bootloader mode, the red LED will stay lit. The USB bootloader drivers are in the FLIP application folder. All the instructions are in the manual, section 9.2.

while the device was off, pressing the leftmost button then menu button and keep pressing them at the same time and plugging in did the trick./\r\n//\r\n/i did this with winxp on vmware fusion on macosx. so if anybody was wondering, it works /\r\n//\r\n/
