What's the, um, right way to connect audio to the XProtolab? I see the 3/8" jack available, but I'm not sure where I could (or should) plugin a stereo or mono plug...

Plug a probe into a analog channel. Attach the probe to the audio source. I wouldn't go jamming a headphone plug in there.

Yes, you can connect a mono plug to the Xprotolab Portable. The TIP is the signal source and the SLEEVE is ground. The RING is not connected.
